Sequential highlighting

Sequential highlighting is the emphasis of stimuli through the use of color, lighting, sound, or tactile surface, to make it prominent in a sequence. Sequential highlighting is a software feature, not an action performed by the user.

Contextual Use: Mary is a student who has difficulty decoding. She uses sequential highlighting with text-to-speech, and the computer highlights each word as it is read aloud to her. Hearing and seeing the word at the same time supports Mary's comprehension of the text.
